About Pilates

Pilates focuses on controlled movement to increase flexibility, correct posture and build strength.  You should expect a full-body workout that emphasizes strengthening your core.  Be prepared to sweat and also expect to leave your session feeling exhilarated.

We offer two ways to practice Pilates, either equipment-assisted or on a mat.  Both place a strong emphasis on engagement of your core, which is the center of your body and the foundation of  your body's strength and power.

Equipment-Assisted

The primary piece of equipment used is called a Reformer.  This machine uses springs to provide resistance in order to strengthen and tone the body.  Your trainer will also focus on the proper alignment of your body as you proceed through your Pilates workout.

We also use the Tower and the Chair, which complement the Reformer workout, to introduce variety.

Equipment-assisted sessions are available one-on-one or in small groups.

Mat Class

The class format is a great introduction to Pilates as it goes through all of the key movements that you'll need to know.  We provide the same focus on strength, flexibility, posture and breathing that come with an equipment-assisted session, but achieve resistance through the use of rings, balls and bars.
